In the UK, the best month to view the Milky Way is August, because you get a good view of the galactic core (the cloudy bits in this photograph). This was taken on August 23rd 2017, at 11.30pm. It had only just got dark, and would start getting light again in less than an hour. Time (and going out late) is critical for astrophotography, in the summer months.
